WILLIAM BLAKE

Two Illustrations to Edward Young, Night Thoughts, published by Richard Evans 1797

€ 1200

As his most ambitious commercial project, Blake produced 537 water colours to illustrate Young’s poems The Complaint and The Consolation.

The paper used for the printing was not large enough, resulting in many copies with parts of the plates cropped. This leaf shows the entire plates including Willliam Blake’s monogram.
