Dürer’s iconic engraving, saturated with allegorical and learned symbolism, was extremely faithfully copied by Johannes Wierix in1602. The publisher Clement de Jonghe who purchased many of Rembrandt’s copper plates after his death, printed the Wierix plate, still in good condition. Framed.
